Mt Hobson Middle School, located in Newmarket, was Villa Education Trust's first school, opening in February 2003.  Led by Principal Alwyn Poole, the small, private, boutique-style school has a maximum roll of 48 students, with  just 12 to a class.  Mt Hobson Middle School operates the unique Villa Education Trust model, combining an integrated project based curriculum with the Eight Essential Learning Areas as stated in the New Zealand curriculum - overlaid by a clear Christian philosophy and Christian values. The programm involves all students in fantastic learning experiences and caters for all intelligence traits and learning styles.  Academic standard are high and expectations of the students are both demanding and fully supported.

Facilities at MHMS include a science room, an art room, ample teaching spaces, ICT (desktops, laptops, data projectors, printers, cameras), a  kitchen and areas set aside for quiet, individual and small group learning.

In the afternoons, the local area becomes the school – including parks, sports facilities, libraries, art galleries and businesses, allowing MHMS students the opportunity to learn in an environment without walls.

Mt Hobson Middle School welcomes international students on short and long term placements.  For an overseas student, Auckland offers a great lifestyle in a city that has (consistently) been voted one of the ‘most livable in the world (by The Economist). Due to the small class sizes, International students learn quickley and in context and benefit from the quality pastoral care.  Further details can be obtained from the International Manager Bruce Knox:
